Artist's Bio
Deborah was born in Blue Island, Illinois and brought out to California (at a very young age) where she has resided on the Central Coast ever since. She has been married for over 16 years, is a mother of two spectacular boys, a marathon runner, a cyclist, and an all around sports enthusiast!
Deborah has long been fascinated by stained glass and art in general. "I reached a point where I needed to explore a creative outlet. I turned to the vibrancy and functionality of this art form.
I started out casually by gathering and studying information obtained from the internet and from our public library, working a short while as an apprentice, and finally applying that knowledge learned to create beautiful pieces from the solace of my home. I discovered that my interest in stained glass was more than just a fascination and a hobby. My initial thought was...just start and see where this takes you." Deborah eventually left her full-time job over five years ago to pursue stained glass full time.
This same attitude is exactly how Deborah approaches creating each of her glass and paper mosaic pieces for her clients. She relies on her intuition and subconscious to guide her in her work.
Influenced by the need to create imagery that is different, contemporary, and/or abstract, Deborah attempts to transform these traditional mediums into designs expressing a wide range of emotions and styles from modern to romantic, whimsical to simple - wherever the creative energy takes her.
